3 Strange Things About Me

To all clients, new and old, here are 3 possible strange facts you didn't know about me. I've written this list in a hurry in between my workout and afternoon clients here in Helsinki.

What you're reading is pure stream of consciousness. If it doesn't make total sense, it's because it's raw and unpolished thoughts downloaded straight from my brain.

Number 1. I’m incredibly curious. I’ve spent my entire life learning things and reading books. My favourite subjects are non-fiction and philosophy. I just bought a book on the periodic table of the elements and just finished reading a book on trauma and the mind-body connection. I’ll also spend a cumulative total of a few hours a week exploring subjects on youtube and podcasts related to science, astrophysics, health, engineering or any esoteric subject. I love to find out how things are made, where words come from, how things work. There is seemingly no end to my curiosity and it actually gets in the way of me doing things sometimes.

Second. I love music; I study piano with a teacher, I enjoy a range of genres including classical, alternative, indie, punk, hardcore and metal, rock and hip hop. I consider myself a bit of an audiophile, meaning I get a lot of joy listening to sound in general. If something makes a funny sound, I will always do my best to repeat it and hear it again. So you can imagine the kind of joy I get from listening to music. I enjoy the total sound experience of music, not so much the lyrics. But every now and then I find lyrics to songs that resonate with me or inspire me in some way, and I’ll learn them and remember them. Otherwise, if you ask me about the lyrics, I’ll often never know even though I’ve listened to a song many times.

Third and final. I have many future endeavours that I am simultaneously working on:

  • learning how to market my online course (teaching behaviour change and exercise to people with low motivation, depression and anxiety)
  • developing another online course for personal trainers (teaching motivational interviewing)
  • opening a gym with a business partner
  • in-person seminars at gyms around Helsinki teaching motivational interviewing

Thank you for reading. Send me a message if you've learned something!
